Finally, also in my neighborhood Kralingen, De Bakkerswinkel. Situated on a location with lots of history. It’s the former Amsterdam-Rotterdam bank building. One of the few buildings in Rotterdam that have survived the heavy bombardment during WO II. When you are inside you’ll experience it’s a building with history.
Piet Hein Eek has done such a great job designing the interior of De Bakkerswinkel. It’s a mix of industrial, vintage and contemporary design. I love how he has used daylight by adding a huge window ceiling, the brick walls and the typical historic elements of the building. Just as the copper lamps and bar. If you are into home deco, this is a must visit.
Besides the great interior design, De Bakkerswinkel offers a nice menu. Breakfast, lunch, coffee. All to enjoy in their fantastic environment. Or if you like to have your coffee with a croissant to go, that’s also possible. During summertime you will be able to enjoy the Rotterdam sun on their terrace.
